Dr. Michael A. Awaah is a graduate of Belarusian National Technical University, Minsk where he completed his degree in Electrical Engineering (MSc.), in 1993. He received his Master’s in Electrical Engineering in 2002 and his PhD. in Material Science and Engineering in 2006 from Tuskegee University in the United States. Dr. Awaah has worked in the engineering field all his life.
He started as an Electrical Engineer trainee at the Electricity Company of Ghana in 1993 after completing his degree.
He moved in 1995, to Roland-Bryan Electrical Contractors, Louisville, in the US as an Engineering Aide. In 1997, he was a Field Technical Specialist at OI Analytical in Texas. He was a Senior Technology Development Process Engineer for Intel Corporation in 2005. He resigned to pursue his teaching passion at Tuskegee University, Alabama and later returned to Intel Corporation as Senior Process Engineer in 2012.
As a prolific expert in his field, Dr. Awaah has over 25 years’ experience in teaching, advising, mentoring, and researching. He has lectured students at the undergraduate and post graduate levels and manage various research facilities. He was a Research/Teaching assistant for 5 years at Tuskegee University.
In 2007, he was appointed Assistant Professor at the Electrical Engineering Department of the University.
He is currently an Associate Professor at the Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Awaah is a highly motivated and results driven individual with multidisciplinary academic experience. His academic background is applicable to research in the field of Engineering, Manufacturing and R&D environments.
Through consistent demonstration of his leadership and project management skills, Dr. Awaah has managed several funded grants. Notable amongst these are several research projects for the National Science Foundation of America and the Department of Defense Research and Education Program for Historically Black Colleges and Minority-Serving Institutions.
Dr. Awaah also has superior written and oral communication skills as he has written and reviewed numerous research papers. He is a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
